Seasonal Activities That Will Make You Feel Young

• January-Have a snowball fight. Go sledding. Drink hot chocolate with marshmellows. Make snow angels.
• February-Make valentines and hand deliver them. Take a bubble bath and make a bubble beard.
• March-Fly a kite. Go on a hike that you have wanted to do forever.
• April-Plant flower seeds in Dixie cups and dirt. Finger paint a picture of a flower. Cut and paste with real paste and scissors a self-portrait in abstract form.
• May-Ride your bike to the store for a ice cream cone. Call Mom and let her know you love her. Hand make a Mother's Day card.
• June-Go to the park. Swing high on the swings. Slide down the slide. Play hopscotch.
• July-Blow bubbles. Have a water balloon fight. Play capture the flag with water guns.
• August-Buy school supplies. Buy a new outfit like you are going to school for the first time.
• September-Use your best printing to write a story about your summer vacation. Take a class and learn something new.
• October-Rake leaves in a pile and jump in them. Go to a pumpkin patch, pick out pumpkins to carve. Drink apple cider. Bob for apples.
• November-Forget the pie just squirt Redi-Whip in your mouth and chase it with chocolate syrup. You will love it!
• December-Make a wish list with pictures from magazines and catalogs. Catch snow flakes on your tongue. Visit a perfect stranger in a nursing home, sing them a Christmas song.

These are just a few suggestions you could do to feel young again. Invite your friends and family to do these activities with you. Live your life with laughter and have fun. Ask a child in your life what would they add to the list and do that too.

Be Like A Child

What does that mean to me? To be like a child means so many things. First of all children love to play and the children I know can make a game out of anything. The family room sofa is a ship floating in the sea, or maybe it's not a ship but a big rock and there is hot lava all around but if you are on the sofa you are not burned. The sofa keeps you safe from many things like aligators, snakes, sharks, and so much more. Ask the child in your life what it keeps you safe from. They will know, I bet.
Also to be like a child is to be unconditionally loving. Children give love so easily. Think what a difference it would make if adults would go through life like that. Not judging but instead forgiving.
Children are not afraid to try new things. They don't care what others think, yet. Children like to skip down the sidewalk instead of walking. They want to play hopscotch and jump rope. Have you jumped rope lately? They love to create art. I've watched my grandchildren create many drawings and paintings. They didn't care if "It was good" they knew it was. Every one was to be put on the fridge for all to see. But if by some unexplained reason they found their masterpiece in the trash they knew it was a mistake and got it out for you to put on the fridge, again.
One simple pleasure I have had is at times to sing to my grandchildren as they fall asleep at bedtime. I'm not a singer. But they don't care. They love granny to sing to them. I've gotten over the worry about my voice and now I don't care what I sound like. That's the way children are.
We are all wonderful and perfect the way we are. God loves us just the way we are. Children know this. I know this.

"Come on Granny, do you want to go to my room and play?" Jaiden said this as she and I climbed the stairs to her room. Of course I want to play with her she is clever and creative, two qualities I admire in children and adults.

I've noticed with children they don't like to be interupted when they are in the middle of something like a game or an art project. I read a quote once that said "children are never more serious than when they are playing". This is my goal-Gail is never more serious than when she is playing. I will be that. Will you join me? Let's play more and just see what happens to us. I bet we live longer and are happier too.
